Hardywood is so fantastic. Gingerbread. Thick. Sweet.
Gingerbread in liquid form. Perfect amount of spices too. Not overwhelming
All the flavors are balanced very well. Nice mouthfeel and on the thicker side but drinkable
Did not care for. Strange aftertaste
Taste like it sounds - really festive, rich stout
Good. Needs to be thicker
So sweet and smith this one is
Tasted exactly like gingerbread, I enjoyed it and i would totally buy again
Just ok. Not much flavor
Look: dark (almost black), very small head, little lacing Smell: roast, ginger bread (cookie), honey, small spice (cinnamon?) Taste: front end sweet stout, mid taste we get intense honey, backend we get gingerbread cookie and far trailing end we get roast and a bit of booze. Feel: full mouthfeel, a bit of carbonation and then bittering end notes give a bit drying on the end feel We are from Portland OR area and lived in Virginia for a while. We love Hardywood. They are very creative and fun. This beer is interesting because it is intense honey with gingerbread cookie; and full mouthfeel probably from the lactose. There is not intense vanilla or cinnamon, but the flavors profile is all gingerbread cookie mid drink, exactly what it says. It is a 9.2 ABV but they hide it well for those that are not big boozy beer drinkers.
Perfect for Xmas
Very good,very gingerbread
Definitely a fancy, special stout. Really struck by how smooth this was, very intense ginger taste and smell and nicely spiced.
Better than the version with maple.
Delicious gingerbread flavor. Tastes like the holidays in a can.
Holiday flavor in a can!
I preferred the Christmas Pancakes over this one.
To thin and WAY to sweet.
Creamy, ginger notes up front, followed by a sugary, chocolate malt that hints at lightly toasted cookies. Finishes with a light bitterness that lingers sweet.
Love the cinnamon
As advertised, a gingerbread cookie in beer form.
Solid, but I’d take the pancakes any day
Pure delicious gingerbread.
I literally thought I was drinking cookies. This was amazing! Gingerbread lovers, do not pass up on this.
Gingerbread stout all the wayyyyyyy
Very dry. More of a “ginger” taste, not gingerbread cookie.
I liked the pancakes better but this was drinkable. Kinda forgettable though.
Maybe one of my favorites gingerbread stouts to get during the Holiday season. You can really taste the ginger bread but also complements cinnamon
Christmas in a can.
Not my favorite
Not bad, but the lingering aftertaste makes it hard to recommend unless you really love gingerbread.
Definitely leaves an aftertaste but I think that's the gingerbread....unique, kind of thin.
Oof. Sweet, and gingerbready. Congrats of you consume more than one in a sitting.
Gingerbread and cinnamon forward. Thin mouth feel
So good I want more! Great cinnamon and ginger
Drink this on Christmas and no other day - it’s so good with the gingerbread flavor! A little thin though.
So much gingerbread!
The similarities to actual gingerbread are incredible. Like drinking a Christmas cookie.
Not bad but not great.
Very subtle in gingerbread but it’s a good beer overall
Let it warm up for the most gingerbread flavor.
Greats flavors, drink at room temp
As good as I remembered it from years ago when I sampled it.
More like oatmeal cookie with raisins than gingerbread. Nevertheless, delicious.
A little too sweet for me
Pretty good, but not as ginger bread as I’d have liked
3.81/5 look: 4.25 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75 Poured from a 16 ounce can into a snifter at 45 degrees per can. Look- Black, medium brown frothy head, average head retention and lacing. Smell- Ginger, cinnamon, vanilla. Taste- Ginger, vanilla, ginger and sweet honey finish. Feel- Medium body, slightly mouth coating, creamy, below average carbonation. Overall- Good, but reminds me more of root beer than gingerbread.
A bit on the novelty side
A very spiced holiday treat.
Pours dark with a thin head. Not much aroma initially. First taste is an explosion of spices throughout the sip. As it warms, cinnamon oozes on the nose. Each taste reveals more complexity. Vanilla and ginger dances on a sweet base.
