About This Beer

The brewers at Crooked Stave crafted this one to take your taste buds to ‘the good place.’ They aged portions of this blended Imperial Stout in the most heavenly barrels they could get their hands on: some in Angel’s Envy, and some in Heaven Hill. They also used a portion of unaged Stout, balancing the whiskey nuances with dark notes of baker’s chocolate and espresso.

I can pull out the barrel character on the nose and front palate. an almost sweet tart fills the mid while the finish lingers with chocolate and barrel char. not bad but expected better.

First drain pour of 2023 for me. Flat and headless. Overly bitter. Tasted spoiled. Really thought this would be delicious and was wrong.

Chocolate & dark fruit in aroma along w/subtle bourbon notes. More chocolate in the taste w/cherries & a touch of licorice. Bourbon is present but in background.

Vanilla, coconut, coffee, toffee, dark chocolate. Taste with additional notes of dark fruit, rum raisin, plum, fig. Full bodied, long finish, well hidden alcohol. Excellent!
