A Note on This Beer
To enjoy a Berliner Weisse like a 19th century German Sour enthusiast, you’d need a really wide, round glass and some lederhosen.
The glass is for awakening the beer’s tangy fruit and oak aromatics as you sip, while the lederhosen is for fun (though I hear it’s surprisingly comfy).
Normally, you’d also stir in a fruit-flavored syrup to go all-in on German Weisse tradition. But, things would get sticky real fast, and you’d probably ruin your lederhosen. Plus, it would taste super sugary. That’s why the folks at Woodland Empire Ale Craft went for the fresh stuff — today’s False Teachin’ boasts over 2 lbs of blackberries per gallon!
Those North American Beer Award winners also smoothed out this tangy-sweet Berliner Weisse with creamy doses of vanilla and lactose. Each sip brims with the original style’s gently puckering tartness and fruit notes, delectably updated with the flavors of a jammy blackberry cobbler. Yum!
I still recommend pouring this one into a wide-brimmed glass so you can fully experience its berries n’ cream nuances. But the lederhosen is optional.
The Culture Trip hails Woodland Empire Ale Craft as one of the Top 10 Breweries in Idaho.
