Collaboration - Through an exclusive partnership with the Portland Roasting Company, Laurelwood customizes their coffee blend. They take part in a “cupping,” researching and tasting a wide variety of roasts before choosing the coffee that best accentuates this 6.4% ABV Stout’s layers of roasted malts.

Selection - As growing conditions change from year to year, so does coffee character - and Laurelwood only wants the best. This year’s prime blend features an infusion of Mexican, Peruvian, and Sumatran beans. Boasting flavors of bittersweet cocoa, toasted nuts, and fresh tobacco, these regional coffees harmoniously fold into the base.

Brewing - By using a process known as “cold-steeping,” Laurelwood ensures that none of the coffee’s impact is lost during brewing. Cold-steeping slowly extracts flavor from the ground coffee, reducing unwanted acidity. The resulting brew is also far more concentrated, maximizing coffee intensity into the Stout.
