Endeavor India Pale Ale (2017)
Saint Arnold Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
When we debuted Saint Arnold Brewing Company’s Endeavour Double India Pale Ale at a Pacific Northwest hop festival, its bitter-onion-candy magic blew IPA fans away. Apart from ‘yum’ and ‘that’s 9% ABV?’ the biggest crowd refrain was, ‘more please.’
It’s no surprise Endeavour has this kind of impact on hop fans – it takes a classic hop bill of Columbus, Centennial and Simcoe Hops and elicits bold, unexpected flavors like lychee, peaches, and nectarines over a backdrop of bittering earth and sugared onions. If you’re a professed hop nerd and you think you know what this trifecta can do, you haven’t tasted this beer.
Dank citrus tangoes with tropical and stone fruits with the cleansing bite of fresh green ferns. A touch of sweetness from the malts takes the edge off the bitter, making this dangerously easy on the palate.
This Imperial is a ratings hound boasting a shiny Silver World Beer Cup Medal. It was originally a limited release but fans campaigned to make it available year round. After debuting it on the West Coast this past weekend, it’s fair to say, where this beer pours, IPA fans follow.
