A Note on This Beer
In Japan, they have a legend about giant skeletons that wander the night, snatching up lone travelers and consuming them for sustenance. They’re called Gashadokuro, and they’re super badass.
But are they as badass as today’s EBK 9.0 Hazy DIPA [Gashadokuro Edition] Ghost 782 from Virginia’s Adroit Theory? To find out, I’m pitting them against each other in a no-holds-barred battle for supremacy.
Exhibit A - Hop Loadedness: EBK 9.0 is double dry-hopped with enough juicy cones to bury a giant skeleton — or your palate — in a righteous avalanche of fruity deliciousness. We’re talking mandarin flavored Citra, berry and apricot loaded Simcoe, grapefruity Amarillo, and lemon-zesty Comet Hops. And an 8.3% ABV! The Gashadokuro of legend are said to possess many magical powers, but none of those include the ability to flood your palate with tropical hop juice.
Adroit definitely wins this one.
Exhibit B - Public Belovedness: Show up to any event with a cooler full of this juice, and you’ll be swarmed by craft fans looking for a hit of the haze. It’s got early tasters on Untappd saying things like “ridiculously good,” and “damn!!” Arrive at the party with a giant skeleton, and everyone will scream and run away. Trust me, you’ll make more friends with EBK.
Beer wins again!
Exhibit C - Availability: Actual Gashadokuro are mythical creatures of legend, and are not available for purchase. EBK 9.0 is ALMOST as hard to get ahold of. Adroit Theory’s brews rarely leave Virginia, and the brewery’s fans are notorious for snapping up entire batches in pre-sale before they’re even released. But we managed to snag a few cases, so at least a lucky few of you CAN get this beer!
That’s another point for Adroit!
There you have it! Today’s EBK 9.0 Hazy DIPA [Gashadokuro Edition] is even more badass than a giant, man-eating skeleton! And if you act very fast, you can get yourself a can or two.
This beer is too new for ratings!
