A Note on This Beer
IPA fans all over the country have been raving about the snappy, hoppy intensity of Rice IPAs. We love ‘em too, but they’re harder to find than a grain of rice in a pile of malt!
So when we heard today’s World Beer Cup gold medal winning Rice IPA was finally leaving its home in the thumb of Michigan’s mitten, we jumped on the opportunity to share its bright, hoppy goodness with our members.
There is no better introduction to this innovative style than today’s DRIPA (Double Rice IPA). In addition to its prestigious Gold Medal and whopping 4.39 BA score, this bad boy is also the highest rated Double Rice IPA on Untappd, beating beers from Flying Fish and Breakside!
This brew comes from the homebrewing brothers turned craft masterminds at Kuhnhenn Brewing. Their addition of American long-grain rice in DRIPA’s mash creates a super dry fermentation process, subduing any malt sweetness and giving the intense citrus flavors from the hops center stage.
The final result? A crisp, refreshing brew that has a dry snap at the finish.
Huge aromas of lemon zest, juicy peaches, and citrus overflow from the bubbly, bright straw-yellow pour. The first sip sends a wave of pine resin and grapefruit pith over the palate for a bite of bitterness that is quickly balanced by melon sweetness. Slight grassy and floral notes linger for a refreshingly light body — just watch out for the sneaky 9.5% ABV!
Grab a few cans of DRIPA and take it upon yourself to introduce your buddies to this innovative, hard-to-find style. Next thing you know, your mailbox will be stuffed with thank you cards.
