About This Beer
To make this sublime sip, the brewers started by putting a blend of English Maris Otter and German Munich malts through a 24 hour long boil — which is already impressive. (A standard boil only takes about 60 minutes.) Then they aged the brew in a 50/50 combo of Heaven Hill bourbon and Laird’s Apple Brandy barrels for a full year before transferring it into freshly emptied rye whiskey barrels for another 11 months!
Tasting Notes
That extra long hot-side caramelized the malts for bold flavors of toffee, honey, and toasted bread. The extended slumber on oak added notes of apple compote, top shelf whiskey, spicy rye bread, and just a whisper of barrel char. And it’s so smooth, you’ll barely even notice the whopping 17% ABV.
