Dare Mighty Things: Citra Cryo
The Brewing Projekt
A Note on This Beer
Citra-hopped IPAs are white-hot right now, thanks to the hop’s uncanny ability to impart quenching layers of orange and grapefruit flavors. But, IPAs hopped with Cryo Citra? Those delights are much more rare.
For the unfamiliar, Cryo is a concentrated hop powder that makes for extra-potent flavors and aromas. Basically, it allows for all the oil and resins (the stuff that makes hops so darn tasty) to be added straight to the beer without an onslaught of bitter, vegetal stuff. The result is super juice!
But, the proof’s in the pudding! Or in this case, it’s in Dare Mighty Things – Cryo Citra IPA. The New England-style IPA positively explodes with bright citrus aromas. On the tongue, flavors of grapefruit, tangerine, and orange flow vividly in a smooth body with supremely sippable, low bitterness.
It’s easy to think that The Brewing Projekt pulled a fast one and swapped out the beer for some fresh-squeezed juice. But hey, the fans say it best:
- “For cryo out loud that is good!” @Andrew G.
- “These would be my go-to hops. I’d be satisfied if I had access to this all year long.” @Derek M.
- “This one is good. Exuding citra aroma while poured and even from a distance. A decadent, malty mouthfeel throughout that goes down so smooth. So delicious and crushable!” @Tate

BY FAR, my favorite of all the beers I’ve ordered on here. They are doing amazing things at the brewing projekt. That aftertaste sent me flying over the moon
Sweet OJ in a can.
Wow, crazy good with hints of honey comb
This brewery never disappoints
Hazy but a little too light
Solid bit too light for my liking.
Daily Corona battle. Cryo of my favorite hop and is just citrusy zippy and refreshing.
Bright, floral, tropical aroma. Creamy, hoppy, resin flavors with a ton of juicy funk. Slightly wild yeast flavors with a piney, bitter finish. This is a really nice IPA to be sure.
Easy to drink. Good carbonation. The smell was amazing, but the taste didn’t quit live up to my expectations. I still really like it though. Drank again: really good! Pineapple mango juice notes. Love it.
Definitely noted a vegetal aroma and flavor with a bit of unripe nectarine
“Far better it is to DARE MIGHTY THINGS, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.”
Citra is my favorite hop so I’m biased towards some other beers that feature it. This one was just ok for me. I’ll stick with sours from Brewing Projekt.
Hoppy yet smooth and refreshing
Hoppy but smooth and slammable, very easy to drink.
Perfect balance of citrus to hoppyness! I could drink there everyday! The brewing projekt never lets me down
Super smooth. Not very hoppy and super juicy. You can down this one fast it's that smooth.
