A Note on This Beer
If we had to choose two words to describe the flavors of a classic West Coast IPA, it would definitely be dank and sticky. This hopped up style brims with kush-like aromas and flavors so intense, you’ll swear you’re sipping on sticky nectar.
It’s the style that launched American craft onto the world stage and there are few who make brews as true-to-style as San Diego’s The Hop Concept.
These guys are smack-dab in the birthplace of the West Coast style, and as the hop-focused offshoot of GABF-award-winning legends Lost Abbey, snagging today’s 4.20 BA rated Dank & Sticky Imperial IPA offers a chance to expose your buds to the dankest of the dank from the Sunshine State.
Before we breakdown just exactly what Dank & Sticky tastes like, let’s drop a little hop knowledge on ya’. See, our favorite fruity buds are a close cousin to cannabis which means they produce a lot of the same aromas and flavors, or “dank.”
For today’s beer, THC strategically paired some of the dankest hops around — Eureka, Columbus, Chinook, Simcoe, Mosaic, and Comet — to create an 8.5% ABV beast bursting with extreme ganja-like potency.
Notes of fresh cut grass, herbal spice, and piney evergreen swirl around layers of muddled mint, tangy tangerine, and pithy grapefruit. A touch of lemon kush and creamy papaya leave the finish feeling crisp and complex.
If you’ve been curious about “dank” IPAs or you’re a die-hard hophead, snag a couple cans of Dank & Sticky. And the next time your buddy try to tell you how a West Coast brew should taste, hand them a can and blow their mind.
