A Note on This Beer
— The Hazehead’s Guide to Surviving Oregon —
If you’re planning a trip to the beer mecca of Oregon, it’s important to remember that you are venturing into dense craft territory. As a Hazy fan, it’s crucial to know where to find the essentials.
In this 5-Step Hazy Survival Guide, you will learn how to thrive in the Oregon craft wilderness.
#1: Pack a tidy survival kit that includes the necessities: cash, ID, and carb-rich snacks. You will need these to purchase beer and prevent severe hangovers.
#2: Choose your destination - wisely. For the Hazy Essentials, travel to the city of Eugene and go directly to ColdFire Brewing. Here, you can find juicebombs that have surpassed Hazy IPAs from giants like Toppling Goliath, Burial, and even Trillium in a Paste Magazine blind taste test!
#3: Approach the bartender and ask for a pint of Cumulus Tropicalus Hazy IPA. Be prepared for an explosion of lemon and guava-rich aromas — after all, this hazy didn’t earn a spot on Willamette Week’s 2019 Top 10 Oregon Beers of the Year for being underwhelming.
#4: (EXTREMELY important) - Revel in the cloudy, full-bodied, and rich hop experience that sits before you. Amid a crushable 6.5% ABV, flavors of ripe peaches and tender passionfruit burst forth. Then, more notes of citrus join in as oranges and dank papaya dance across your starving palate.
#5: Return to the bartender and ask for as many cans of Cumulus Tropicalus as you can possibly carry in your arms. You won’t want to leave without a stash because you may never see this Hazy IPA outside of Oregon. And remember: there are people at home who are counting on you to bring them back something mind-blowing!
Please follow the steps in this guide closely if you wish to survive the Oregon craft wilderness as a Hazy fan. If this all sounds a bit too risky and overbearing, you could always kick back, relax, and let Tavour bring you a stash of Cumulus Tropicalus instead!
