For this dark yet crushable treat, the brewers started with a traditional German-style Schwarzbier, made with European roasted malts and a double decoction mashing process to really amp up the mocha flavors. Imported Noble Hops add touches of floral complexity and a hint of bitterness on the finish.
Then, for a unique twist, they rest the brew briefly in their coolship, giving it a slightly earthy complexity that adds body and depth. Finally, they ferment in open tanks with a classic Czech Pilsner yeast before conditioning the beer in their cellar for several months.
Roasty mocha notes splash through a clean, crisp, utterly crushable Lager body. Floral notes unfurl on the finish along with a touch of bitterness, while a brief stint in the brewery’s coolship adds multifaceted complexity and depth not often seen in a beer this light.
