A Note on This Beer
Damn, this Melvin Citradamus Imperial IPA is an unbelievably easy drinking juice grenade, especially for an 8% ABV *re-checks the can* correction, 9.5% ABV and smoother than a smoothie, wow, it’s absolutely unreal how fast this goes down.
Hopped with Citra then later dry-hopped with more Citra, Citradamus meets the nose with aromas of orange lemonade. As it reaches the tongue -- experience an entire orchard of Satsuma oranges, Mediterranean mandarins, pomelos, and Texas red grapefruits juiced over the palate. Someone yells “FINISH HIM” and Citradamus fades into a resinous dank afterthought.
Who else loves this Imperial citrus-blast? Better question: can you find anyone that doesn’t? Tavour members give it a 4.23/5, it’s a 4.20 on Untappd, and a 4.33 on BeerAdvocate.
If it’s so damn good, then why isn’t every brewery doubling down on the Citra Hops in their Imperial IPAs? Maybe it’s because it takes a master hop-smith like Melvin to make a 9.5% ABV DIPA taste like straight juice. Or likely it’s because “They’re wicked spendy and we bought them all, that’s why.”- Melvin boasts on their label.
Here at Tavour a Melvin Imperial IPA is somewhat of a mirage, as soon as we get them they’re plucked up and heading your way on delivery trucks before we can even finish our tasters. Citradamus now, because Citradamus will be gone by later.
