When River North released this year’s stash of candy-cane-laced Imperial Porter, they threw Ugly Christmas Sweater parties at both of their taprooms. 

Sounds like a jolly good time! Had I been in Denver, I would’ve whipped out my Borat Christmas sweatshirt (it’s Christmas, very nice!) and jogged my dark-beer-loving self down to the taproom. 

Alas, I was here in Seattle. Lucky for me (and you), I snagged the very first stash of holiday Porter to EVER leave Colorado! It’s a Christmas miracle! 

Thanks to real additions of cacao nibs and Hammond’s peppermint candy, this beer tastes just like the mug of candy cane hot cocoa I enjoyed at the ski lodge as a kid. At sips’ end, those nostalgic flavors blend seamlessly into notes of rich toffee and gooey caramel from the base Porter.

Wrapped up in a cozy 10.4% ABV, this chocolatey dreamscape is as warm as a crackling fire and soft as a brand-new scarf.

So, unless you made it to River North’s Ugly Sweater party (JEALOUS), the only way to taste this belly-warming brew outside the state is right here. I recommend putting on your favorite slippers (or Borat sweater), snuggling up by the fireplace, and claiming your bottles now!
