A Note on This Beer

Today’s Chica Mala is no ordinary Lager.

To start, it’s a Mexican-style Lager, taken to the next level of lip-smacking refreshment with lime and sea salt. But, the brewers didn’t stop there. They enhanced the brew with waves of juiciness from bright mango additions, then worked in zesty heat on the finish with habanero!

It’s like the ultimate amped-up margarita, only in satisfying beer form. Plus, this tasty Lager boasts an ultra-drinkable 5% ABV!

Chica Mala comes from MobCraft too, which is no ordinary brewery. Those GABF Gold medalists are known for being the “world’s first crowdsourced brewery,” since many of their unique flavors and ingredients are based on fan ideas.

But, that also means that MobCraft’s creations are highly limited one-off releases. If you want to experience Chica Mala’s palate-dazzling summer cocktail flavors in easygoing Lager form, the time to grab a stash is now!

Today’s Lager was brewed in collaboration with Girls Pint Out, a non-profit organization for women who love craft beer.

Where is the Habanero? Where is the mango? It tastes like a regular lager to me, I can’t say I was impressed.

Lime aroma that’s reminiscent of a weak margarita. Crisp flavor, light pepper notes, with a subtle burn aftertaste. Not even a hint of mango though. Would have liked a little more lime flavor but easily fixed with a wedge.

Very subtle flavors, as many have noted. I, myself, prefer a chile beer with more spice. Putting that disappointment aside, however, and just trying to evaluate it as a Mexican lager, I found it to be quite delicious and refreshing, with the lime/salt/habanero/mango enhancing the overall experience, rather than being the experience.

I like the little bit of heat I get from the habanero, but other than that, I’m not really a fan. The mango doesn’t come through at all, and it’s a little too salty for me to thoroughly enjoy.
