A Note on This Beer
Pavel Cherenkov has a lot of stuff named after him. Stuff like Cherenkov radiation, and the Cherenkov detector that measures it. There’s even a Star Trek character named in his honor!
But our favorite thing to bear the name ‘Cherenkov’ has gotta be today’s Bourbon Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout from Five Threads — Buzzfeed’s Best Brewery in California!
This hyper-limited Anniversary Edition was infused with roasted cocoa nibs and whole vanilla beans!
Exposure to high doses of this super-rare Stout, with its stress-melting 12.5% ABV, makes Dark Beer fans swoon — unlike Cherenkov radiation, which you do NOT want high doses of.
Yeah. We’ll stick with the beer.
This brew won’t ever win a Nobel Prize like Cherenkov the scientist (because there isn’t one for beer, which is a travesty), but it’s already won over fans. Those lucky few to snag a taste have awarded it a whopping 4.16 on Untappd!
Open the bottle, and huge aromas of rich chocolate and roasted coffee come radiating out. Take a sip, and notes of warm Bourbon and creamy vanilla shine across the palate before giving way to hints of biscuit and even more chocolate. And the massive ABV totally vanishes behind a thick and chewy mouthfeel.
But if you want a taste and you’re not planning a trip to the City of Angels, you’d better get it here. Because Five Threads’ brews barely leave the city, much less the state. We only managed to get 240 bottles!
That means you’re not going to find this sip of delectable darkness at your local bottle shop. Not even if you use a Cherenkov detector.
