About This Beer

Pelican’s seafaring Scotch Ale brought home five medals from the Australian International Beer Awards (three of them gold), top honors for Barrel Aged Strong Beer at the Brussels Beer Challenge, and a silver European Beer Star.

The team brewed their Wee Heavy with four different specialty malts and Pure Ale Yeast before letting it set sail in Dry Fly Distilling whiskey barrels for a voyage of oaky discovery.

Tasting Notes

Waves of caramel and cocoa flavors crash upon a creme brûlée-like shore, creating the impression of malted milk balls. As you make it up to cruising speed, each velvety sip glides along with nuances of sweet barrel spice and leather overlaid with dried cherry tones. A touch of boozy whiskey breezes into the long malty finish of this 9.5% ABV sipper.

It pours dark brown with a smooth head. Licorice on the nose. Barrel notes and licorice up front followed by solid malt sweetness. Slight booziness lingers. A big, enjoyable pint.
