A Note on This Beer
200 years ago in the Czech Republic, people were dumping barrels of rancid ale into the streets of Plzen. Obviously, not cool! What the heck were those Bohemians gonna put in their steins??
The answer: Pilsners! Brewed with lighter-kilned malts, local Saaz Hops, softer water, and bottom-fermenting yeast, Pilsners were more flavorful, drinkable, and lasted longer than ales.
That’s how the Pilsner became the most popular style in the world today. And now, Imagine Nation is adding their own page to this legendary tale!
After their first Pilsner flew through the taproom doors, these Montana brewmasters crafted Building Blocs to get closer to the style’s roots. They brewed it with richer, floor-malted Pilsen Malt from the Czech Republic, plus Vienna and Munich Malts for warm, biscuity smoothness.
They also cold-conditioned the beer for a full 2 months to keep the yeast in “czech” (see what I did there?). This allows the Czech Saaz Hops they used to express themselves loud and proud.
Each sip starts with a pleasantly pithy bite before notes of honeysuckle and lemongrass come gliding in on the soft, bready body. From there, the taste fades into a refreshingly crisp, slightly bitter finish for an experience that’s like nibbling on a citrus-glazed sticky bun!
The people of Plzen fell hard for the light, flavorful, and easy-drinking Pilsner centuries ago. But, after sipping some Building Blocs, I think I’m falling harder for Pilsners now than ever before.
