A Note on This Beer
Jared Herman, Luke McKelvy and Erich Walls walked across the creaky floorboards of a retired 1950’s-era window making factory in Pennsylvania. As they stared at the barren walls and isles of relic, dusty computers, an idea began to take root. Despite the current mess, the space inspired them. They realized this would make a perfect site for their future brewery: Levity.
To commemorate the moment of inspiration, the crew began the process for their future Brett Saison anniversary beer, which would be a two year project in the making.
Partially aged for 24 months in French Oak barrels, with the other two quarters aged for 12 to 13 months, this Brett Saison is an old-world style beer revitalized with a new twist. Blending three Saisons gives this beer an earthy funk which mingles with notes of pear and lemon. A hint of caramel and roasted nuttiness from the oak-aging rounds out a delicate tartness. The white-wine like finish is as snappy as the skin of a fresh green grape.
Take a moment to sip this year’s Brett Saison to commemorate Levity’s journey. With only 2% of the 250,000 square foot space renovated so far, the owners know there will be more work, but also many more achievements to come.
