This was very malty. Enough for me to want to pour it over vanilla ice cream instead. It was rich and sweet. I definitely tasted the truffle, there was a tiiiiiny caramel aftertaste, and I struggled to find the salt. I might buy again to enjoy with said ice cream.
Ordered this from Tavour, chilled, poured into an imperial pint glass. Look: Dark brown with a brown/tan two finger head that slowly dissipated and left a thin layer as well as a nice ring of foam as we drank. Smell: Smells like salted caramel up front, and sweet light roast. Taste: sweet, caramel, roasted malt notes with hints of sweet chocolate, a little bitter and some salty caramel that linger with the chocolate. No boozy notes for a 9% ABV Feel: Medium body beer with a nice tickle of carbonation that hangs as it warmed. Sweet, almost sticky initial mouthfeel but no drying and not too heavy like syrupy like some sweet stouts. We always look at other peoples reviews and were a little perplexed in other reviews (this was an add for BA, but you can dig other places and find reviews). For us this is a sweet milk stout with nice caramel and lingering sweet chocolate just like described on the can. We like Braxton Labs creativity and this was a nice addition to their stout series. Cheers everyone!
Dark, Sugar Daddy sniffs, salty, caramelly, Chocolate, almost soda-pop & lactose sweetness.
The salted caramel notes were muted, and more as a lingering aftertaste.
A little too malty
Got lots of caramel
Not pleasant and artificial flavor taste don’t want and didn’t enjoy and Braxton usually doesn’t disappoint this is not one of there best imo
Nice toasty flavor, great with cookies
Taste good! But missing that final oomph!!!
Fairly disappointed in this one- I was hoping for a stronger emphasis on the caramel. Very dark stout with a rich malted taste. Good, just not what I expected based on the description.
If you want water in place of an imperial stout with no real flavor cool. This is for you. It got poured down the drain.
Eh. It’s alright. Wouldnt order again tho
A lot of caramel on the nose, but then it translates into a burnt taste. Pretty chocolatey (almost overpowering) with a little truffle.
High ABV takes away the flavor profile.
Oooof, this is unbelievably tasty. I didn’t taste the salted caramel in this, but it has a nice, sweet chocolatey end that is perhaps one of the most satisfying sensations I’ve had.
Not as well balanced as similar beers. A bit too sweet for my taste.
Yup. Not for me. Not saying it is bad, just not my thing.
Not sure if mine was bad, but it was so horrible tasting I let the sink drink it.
Seemed pretty ordinary
Dessert flavors without being overly sweet. Like the bitter finish.
I tasted the salted caramel, however, it was a little too bitter for me.
Just sort of tasted like a bitter stout. Was hoping for a smoother finish and sweeter tasting notes
The salted caramel chocolate truffle taste objective really did come through on this one. The sweet-salty combo was really evident when it warms a little. Fine example of a pastry stout.
You can really taste the salted caramel, but it’s not too bitter or too sweet. Nice flavorful that was too heavy, like other stouts. The flavor is just enough to not be too much so you can drink more than one.
Very good aftertaste. The flavor is very well done and not too much. Great dessert beet
Lots of roasty malts appear at the first taste. Highly carbonated and only slightly salty.
Very smooth at 9%. I had it with Reese's
Dark chocolate notes, not getting much caramel. Best from this brewery thus far
Deep roasted flavors, maybe dark chocolate with mild bitterness but nothing salt or caramel to my nose and taste
I expected it to be sweeter. It’s a good rich stout, but it was more bitter than I thought it would be.
I haven’t been that big into stouts for a while but thought I’d give this a try. It was decent, but not outstanding.
Lovin the caramel, a little bitter on the end
Too sweet. Better at room temp than cold. Caramel and booze.
Strange aftertaste and not much of what the cam says at all. IMO. Interesting concept but I don’t feel it
Very dark brew, definitely a stout. I thought maybe it would be a sweeter stout, but man it packs a very dark, caramel, chocolate bitterness. Not a fan, personally. For people who don’t like stouts, avoid this one.
Sour and salty not sure if i liked it
The stout taste is there but all the other flavors are also there and holy wow
Good taste, that chocolate really comes through followed by the alcohol hit
This is the perfect stout
Salty but not overpowering mixing well with caramel and chocolate notes.
Didn’t get a lot of the caramel taste. Pretty bitter
Super yummy but VERY sweet. Tastes just like the label describes. Well done!
I don’t drink a lot of stouts but I do like them. I solidly think this one is ok - wish it had more caramel flavor - it’s heavy malt flavor ends in bitterness which isn’t my favorite but because its not heavy (see complaints of water-iness) I don’t mind.
Not that great at room temperature. Worse when cold. Very disappointing
Solid. Not too sweet. I dig the salted caramel.
Really good stout. Smooth with a sweet finish
Not a stout person, but this is good. Not too heavy. Rich dry chocolate taste with a hint of sweetness.
Thick and so smooth, new favorite.
I get plenty of salt and cocoa but very little caramel. Pretty letdown.
Maybe it's just me but I haven't liked anything from braxton yet.
Disappointed in this one. Got a lot of chocolate hardly any caramel at all.
This was deliciously good and felt luxurious. You can definitely pick up the Salted Caramel roght off the bat and the booziness was very well hidden. Very Roasty.
Damn! Bitter chocolate mixed with smooth caramel...dark...a little thick. Good flavor, but with a bite!
Just not that good
Solid desert stout. More chocolate than anything else.
Great aroma at first. The initial taste was a wonderfully salty caramel flavor. As I drank, I got more of the bitter chocolate flavors, making it more of a burnt caramel flavor. After a while lots of those flavors got a bit lost and it became more of your standard bitter stout in the end.
Nothing really worth saying, none of the expected flavors, just a plain stout, not bad but not anything special
Undrinkable. Super fizzy like an infected beer. So much fizz and salt. This can is going down the drain.
Tastes like a regular stout.
Good for dessert :)
Yeaaaa... this had a lot of coffee stout flavor. Which is not what I like. I wanted more caramel and truffle flavor. The salt and chocolate were there but the coffee taste just overpowered the whole drink. If you’re going for iced coffee w/alcohol, this is your drink. I just don’t like coffee.
I don't get any caramel in this. It's chocolatey and salty, not much about it that makes it stand out from a regular stout.
Not bad expected more flavor and savory
Great beer for the end of the night the salty sweet really does it right, fantastic dessert beer
I get a lot of salt and cacao nibs. It’s an ok beer.
Good, not great - drinks more like a coffee porter
A little bitter
Taste was too bitter
Tasted like burnt Carmel and tin.....yum. Sink chugger
Good stout. Flavors your read off the can are pretty much what you get.
All their beers sound great but end up being muted versions of their names
Not as described just a sweet stout without much flavor. Gimmicky for sure
little too sweet
great color, a lite dark and great touch of salt over Carmel. a creamy taste for the truffle. very smooth and flavorful beer
pretty bitter for a dessert stout was expecting more of the flavors
I believe something was off with the can. We had high hopes for it, but unfortunately it simply didn’t deliver. Ultimately became a drain pour, I am very sad to say.
