A Note on This Beer
One time I had this homemade, tropical shaved ice in Hawaii that was so delicious, it squeezed my brain.
Jam-packed with nectarous fruit, it felt like I bit into a ripe strawberry and blueberry at once, and chased them down with a banana slushy!
I could feel the neurons pulsing inside my head.
And, I thought I’d have to endure another 17-hour flight to capture that feeling again.
Thank goodness I was wrong! Turns out I’d only have to trek to Fargo, North Dakota.
Today we linked up with the U.S. Open Beer Champs at Drekker. They’re a little weird, a little crazy, and a lot about pushing the limits of what great craft beer can be. And the best thing about them? They created a beer that transported me to the same tropical creamsicle euphoria I’d experienced in Hawaii.
To make Brain Squeeze: Blueberry/Strawberry/Banana, Drekker hoists in 30 lbs per barrel of plump strawberries, blueberries, and bananas. That’s almost triple the amount used in an average Fruit Sour!
Then, the brewery adds 4 pounds of vanilla beans, not the run-of-the-mill, dried-up kind either — we’re talking about the highest quality, most flavorful kind, straight from Madagascar.
Drekker blends the vanilla-kissed fruit with a massive 10 lbs of lactose per barrel, resulting in an extra creamy Jamba Juice-like experience with a tart fruitiness tamed by the massive additions of milk sugar.
