Smokey flavor with a hint of bacon Not the most smooth as it had a slight rubbing alcohol flavour
Way too malty for me. Gave me an instant headache. I will add, however, that pouring it over ice cream remedied all of that.
Excellent Imperial Porter. Enjoyed at 56F or a little warmer brought out the Black Salt in a nice way that made it a good sipper. I needed a super dark beer for this artic winter and this was perfect!
Sweet rich roasty malt with dark chocolate and light maple/graham cracker notes balanced by mild salinity - lovely high gravity sipper
Perfect orientation toward dark and dry, with enough body to carry those profiles. An easy, no-brainer repeat purchase. Kicking myself for not ordering more
Big and chocolatey with vanilla and maple but not overly sweet
Loved this one, if for nothing else than it added a tinge of saltiness to a sweet syrupy base. Nose was sugary and complex.
My palette has this as salty more than sweet, I love chocolate the darker the better. However I get more salt than anything else. I tried a cracker to rinse my palette but that didn't work. Hopefully it will get better by the second can if not it will be going down the drain.
Ordered from Tavour and chilled in the fridge for a couple weeks. Poured relatively hard into an imperial pint glass. Look: dark back with a thin tan head and a nice tan lacing down the glass. Smell: smells like a mix between a Baltic porter and a sweet stout. Light notes of black strap molasses, some roast and light pine. Taste: taste follows the smell, but the black strap molasses is up front and in the nose, following dark notes of dark chocolate, heavy bitter roast and a trailing end of bitter pine (but light). The maple is so light that I am not sure we really get the difference between molasses and maple. Feel: medium body beer with heavy carbonation, but smooth finish. We lived in Virginia for a couple years before moving to the West Coast. We ordered this one for two reasons, it is from Adroit (love this place) and it said maple. For Bren, if you say maple, it better be maple. So I think she was a little disappointed with this one, but overall it is a nice, sweet imperial porter that hides the almost 10% ABV. This beer borders sweet stout for those that love the sweet toasty stouts. Cheers everyone!
Not as thick or creamy as other stouts/porters. More medium bodied. Crisp cold brew flavors, with a touch of salty aftertaste.
Roasty and bitter. Missed the molasses and maple.
You reorganize the garage, you get to celebrate. Love the long chocolate finish, heady coffee nose, and smooth booziness.
Nutty full flavored porter with the right amount of bite for a porter
I wish there was more maple to detect. The salinity saves it from the bitterness. Big malty boozy body.
Good smokiness and stood up to hickory smoked beef ribs. Tannins were subtle and whiskey flavor was muted.
Amazing! Great dark
Very tasty. Deep rich flavors
Great easy sipper fir a Northwest winter evening.
Good but nothing special
Delicious. Complex flavor, the hint of salt is an interesting note.
Tons of roasted goodness. Salt is a great addition. Good bitterness
Very roasty, definitely get a hint of the salt which adds a nice and interesting flavor, but im not getting much maple. Still a fantastic porter without it though.
Good, slow sipper. Malty, sweet, with a nice bitter finish to balance out the sweetness. Take your time with this one
My friend liked it. Assuming it was nice
Didn’t get much of the maple or molasses, but it’s a nice dry, roasty, somewhat hoppy porter, and more drinkable than the ~10% abv would suggest.
Roasty, decadent, mapley, hints of caramel, and salty finish. Love it
16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, silky cap of beige head. Smoky, roasty aroma, woody. Taste introduces light maple notes, more roast, light chocolate and coffee flavors. Hint of warmth, lingering bitterness. Smooth, rich, full.
Absolutely amazing. I’m not a huge fan of darker beers usually, but this ended up being a big exception to that. Would love to get more if I catch it out anywhere!
This is a great porter! Not too sweet. The maple was lost, but that’s not all bad! I enjoyed the depth and the slightly hoppy finish.
Honestly pretty dang good. Dark and smooth like a stout with the after taste of a porter
Maple syrup shows up, toasty goodness, but not much aromatically. Short finish.
Dry, mildly complex, easy drankin for 10%. Nutty
Very very good, tons of complexity, mellowed by the salt, but I think 16oz is way too much
Nice thick beer. A little sweeter than I hoped but would drink again.
Intense roast but the salt helps balance it. Also, a salted porter... strange, but good
Smells almost like a stout. A very bitter but discernibly intense Porter. You can get the black salt flavors initially, but more of the black maple as it warms up. The maple lends a very subtle, but rich sweetness that doesn’t detract from the style. This is a very intriguing beer.
Not really a fan
Definitely taste the maple and the salt! Hubby didn’t like it, but I liked the richness of it
Boring porter no special flavors
Dark, semi sweet chocolate, almost felt a little boozy
Awwwwww, yeeeaaahhhh...go to porter from Adroit! Great flavor & balance! Love these guys!
Not getting a lot of maple but I think it balances the flavor overall. A little bitter and the salt also comes thru.
Full of flavor and boldness
The best porter I’ve had in some time. A nice roll-up of flavors that made this an enjoyable porter to have.
Tastes more like a solid RIS than an adjunct stout. Adjuncts are either subtle or create a more RiS-like palate.
A nice roasty porter.
Total salt bomb. Not what I was expecting
Salt and maple makes for a weird combination
Tastes strongly of bitter dark chocolate and salt, reminiscent of burnt charcoal. Can see the allure, but you gotta be into challenging drinks to get behind this.
Delicious. Slow sipper with lots of flavor
Sweet, salty, malty Porter
Ahh... still haven’t visited but darn glad to have adroit theory delivered via tavour
Thick and oily, deep, dark chocolate with mild but noticeable roasty bitterness. The maple adds a slight bit of chewy sweetness, and the Salt helps to balance the sweetness of dark malts and thr maple. I really like this, the salt really adds to the balance and complexity of this beer.
Aromas of deep roasted malt. Sweet, slightly metallic. Deep caramel, a hint of maple, boozy and incredibly rich. I’m still not the biggest fan in the world of stouts and porters, but this one does have a little extra character that I really appreciate.
Super earthy. Not sweet, but a woody maple character.
Earthy and salty. Slightly thin, but very smooth
Dark, rich, roast and bitter. Big flavors and a slow supper.
Although it is high ABV, it pretty much tasted like a regular porter, expected more but still not bad
A nice, solid, roasty porter with a little more balance and depth than the can version.
Solid porter, nothing more nothing less.
Always need more imperial porters in my life, did not disappoint. Strong flavor, smooth finish.
Really liked this tasted like a traditional nice and dark.
Salt and maple flavors did not blend together as well as I hoped.
Bold, beautiful imperial porter that’s sweet and salty with a lingering current of charred cocoa nibs.
