Lil Beaver Brewery
A Note on This Beer
Every time my mom makes her famous cinnamon-soaked blueberry crumble, my family goes into full predator-mode.
What can I say? Whoever gets the first scoop gets the BEST scoop (aka, the most-crumbly corner piece).
Lucky for me, I don’t need to race my immediate family for a can of Lil Beaver’s opulent Blueberry Crumble Wheat Ale. Just all you crumble-lovin’ craft fans!
Which, actually, won’t be an easy task. The brewers pack each batch full of irresistibly fresh blueberries atop silky vanilla and cinnamon. It tastes just like my mom’s berry delicacy, smothered in a cloud of whipped cream softer than a puppy's ears!
And, there’s a good chance this is your first chance to try a sip of this juice without heading to central Illinois. Because founder, head brewer, and National Homebrew Competition medalist Chad Bevers just opened his taproom in 2018.
The lil brewery is already making a big splash in the local scene thanks to nostalgically delicious brews like Blueberry Crumble. The Illinois newspaper The Herald & Review even called them out as one of the best in the state!
So grab your cans, invite your family over, and enjoy some sumptuous Blueberry Crumble. Every can is full of equal amounts of berry-goodness, so, there’s no need to race for the best one!

Wow cinnamon... smells like a candle, tastes like it should. Yummy!
Yes blueberry, no crumble. Tangy on the palate with a sharp aftertaste. Good, not great.
As advertised very nice blueberry ale
Surprisingly good. Just as described. You can really taste the blueberries and cinnamon. Maybe a little more vanilla and a little less cinnamon would make it better.
Good beer just not what I was expecting. A lot lighter than the picture looks.
This was pretty good. Up front it has an odd and misleading taste/ mouth feel. But you really get allot of blueberry and vanilla to end it out. The aftertaste is completely what you would imagine a blueberry crumble ale would taste. I wanted to give five stars. But had to deduct one for the odd mouth feel.
Better than but very similar to the Blueberry Muffin from Great Notion Brewing Co
Great taste in the front with sips of the blueberry tartness followed by the crumble after taste! Big slow drinks you can taste all flavors. But something was missing? Ah yes maybe a scoop of French vanilla ice cream would make it perfect. This may make the perfect shake.
It tastes as good as it looks. Wish I’d ordered more.
To sweet for me but alright for possible someone who does
Blueberry pie in a glass. Solid solid wheat.
Good beer, fantastic crust finish.
Smooth and creamy. Really does taste like a blueberry cobbler. A little too much cinnamon for me though.
Super good and taste like a desert!
Very blueberry with good vanilla flavor. The only reason it didn’t get a full five stars from me is it is a bit dry for my liking and a touch sour. Still an amazing beer.
Great balance between fruit and sour.
Tastes just like a real blueberry pie!
Not a fan of these novelty beers
Waaaay to much Cinnamon
Cinnamon and blueberry deliciousness!
Pretty good, not incredibly sweet. Good blueberry pie flavor!
Lots of blueberry but I got weird strung out after taste on the finish. Wasn’t really that satisfying. Would not try this again
The blueberry taste is a little too overpowering and almost tastes fake
Nice dessert beer. Tastes like a very tart blueberry crumble.
Definitely a light and crushable dessert treat
Taste the crumble and the blueberry filling with a tart finish. Cheers.
Waaaay too sweet for me and the flavors of blueberries and hops was an odd combo for me. I'm sure someone loves it but just not me.
Wonderful. Just...absolutely wonderful
Like drinking a delicious homemade blueberry pie. Crisp and tart with aftertastes of blueberries and pie crust
Basically tastes like a blueberry clove cigarette! Odd but satisfying.. probably needs a little more body and it would be rated more..
A bit sour....not a typical blueberry wheat. Worth a taste....I probably wouldn’t buy again.
Not nearly as sour as I was expecting. Can taste every ingredient as they balance each other out very well.
Just a mere .25 points from being perfect. Lacked a teeniest bit of sweetness, but quite extraordinary overall. The sour blueberry front end was delicious, but the finish of the cinnamon and vanilla crust was the highlight for me.
This is quite great! A little tart but tasty and very nice blueberry
Truthfully my favorite beer from the crate. Not something I would drink all night, but it was absolutely PERFECT as a dessert beer. I wish I would have ordered more.
Solid balance between booze and fruit
Wasn't sure quite what to expect, the cinnamon was prominent, a bit of a sour, a bit of a witbier. I liked it, I wouldn't drink it on the regular though
