Blueberry & Blackberry Smash
Westbrook Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
As one of Paste Magazine’s 50 Best American Breweries of the 2010’s, Westbrook Brewing Co. knows what’s up.
And, when they add fruit to a beer that’s reminiscent of a summertime slushy — you gotta line up fast, before they vanish like the seasonal berries they’re made with!
Today’s Fruited Sour from the South Carolina brewmasters comes flush with additions of blackberry and blueberry purée in its golden, American Ale base
. The result is a jammy, lightly tart beer with flavors like a slice of freshly toasted bread, topped with a full spread of berry jam fixin’s.
As per usual, folks are clamoring for the Westbrook goodness. @Steven K. says, “Ebbs and flows from sweet to sour berry . . . it just works! Love it.” While Tyler O. adds, “Just your standard, everyday FIRE from Westbrook!”
As you can see, these masters of craft have fans, and you can bet many of them are on Tavour, already swooping in to grab some of our stash. If you’re one of the many Westbrook fanatics, welcome back! If you’re new to the club, give this sensational Fruited Sour a sip and join in.

Sour and tart. The tang of the berries is continues as an after taste. Pretty refreshing overall. Very little bite and smooth. The sweet notes are fairly reserved though. It's much more sour than sweet. Overall, pretty okay. I prefer dark beers, but this wasn't bad. I would try out other sour ales from them.
Mild in taste and tartness.
Sour and blackberry up front, finishing to a nice blue/blackberry medley. Very nice. Why did I only order two of these?
delicate on both sour and berry flavors, I love it. an excellent berry sour for someone experimenting
a mild and pleasant, slightly earthy sour
flavor was nice but tasted thin
Very nice sour with a great fruity taste and wonderful aftertaste. Fantastic mix of blackberry and blueberry. Enjoyable on a hot summer day.
Perfect for this heat wave in the northwest. Crisp and refreshing, and easy to tear through as quickly as you like.
light, crisp, tart a bit sweet. very very nice.
not bad. a bit dryer than I expected.
Very good fruited sour. Good taste
Very sour and fruity, dry, beautiful color. Just a bit too acidic for me.
not bad tastes like Welch's a bit too much for this cowboy
nice and tart. I dig it.
Fruity and sour I like !!!
Another great beer by this brewery. Tart, light, sweep, juicy blueberries and raspberry.
A perfect Sour. the right amount of Sweet and Tart that keeps you coming back for more.
bitter sour beer
Has a slight fermented, sour taste.
high quality (as is everything from westbrook), but a little too sweet
Great flavor. Wasn’t too sweet or sour. Very nice flavor. A bit thin but it was very nice.
light and sweet
light but sweet
slightly sweet. balanced. the best.
I wouldn't really classify this as a sour, but it was good & refreshing. On the lighter side of things.. There was a hint of the berries present, but not the main feature. Which for me, was near perfect.
Decent berry sour, tart and refreshing.
flavor profile spot on. slight sour. maybe a bit thin
Thin flavor, low carbonation, a little too weak for my liking.
party in my mouth
loved the flavor and the amount of sourness.
great fruit flavor and quite tart
wasn’t bad, I just wish there was more flavor
another Westbrook gem. a bit thin in texture, but so tasty!
