A Note on This Beer
Calicraft’s Barrel Project: Peach Sour Ale will transport you to a sweet-smelling orchard in the heart of wine country. With juicy California white peach flavor, floral wine notes and a thick, nectary body, it’s like drinking a mimosa with fresh peach purée.
When you taste this masterfully blended Peach Sour, you’ll think back to carefree days of biting into a ripe, slightly-tart white peach, juice dribbling down your chin. It’s full-bodied and juicy, helmed by gushing tropical fruit from Brettanomyces, a white wine floral character from wine yeasts and a satisfying pop of lemony tartness from Lactobacillus.
With white wine characteristics and a thick, juicy Fruit Ale base, it’s a perfect beer to end a day of wine tasting or to offer a wine-obsessed friend afraid of taking the leap into craft beer. At 8.5% ABV, it’s a genuine middle ground between wine country and the Bay Area brewing scene.
Calicraft has grown leaps and bounds from the days founder Blaine Landberg started brewing in his UC Berkeley dorm room. That bit of collegiate rule-breaking gave birth to a brewery that’s been praised by Wine Enthusiast Magazine for bending genres by using champagne yeast to make “sparkling ales.” Peach Sour is another example of their creative blend of wine yeasts, fruit and laid-back Cali attitude.
