Black Project Spontaneous & Wild Ales
A Note on This Beer
James Howat — founder of Black Project Spontaneous and Wild Ales — describes today’s beer with a Haiku:
A red, boastful plum dances
With lust for the grape
Isn’t that lovely? And it really does capture the deliciousness of BADGER Wild Ale.
This tantalizingly tart brew reveals itself slowly, like a secret Zen garden. As your taste buds stroll along the winding paths of flavor, they’ll encounter vinous bursts of grape skin, pops of plum, and mild tartness from mixed culture fermentation.
To create those fruity flavors, the brewers use real plums and dark-skinned, tannic Primitivo grapes.
But, they don't stop there! They employ a rarely-seen process called Carbonic Maceration, where whole fruit begins fermentation in an oxygen-free environment, creating flavors that are lighter, softer, and smoother than those derived from other methods.
The result is a Sour Beer so vibrantly fruity, it might inspire your own Haiku. But, only if you actually manage to get a can before our stash disappears.

At first sip the sour tang is verrry potent. I will say, after about 3 or 4 sips it does does down a bit and become easier to drink. It definitely will satisfy your sour needs and it's not so overbearing that you can't finish the beer. I wish there was a way to go back and order more. I only ordered a few bc I wasn't sure if I'd like it; now I wish I would've ordered more. Lol
