A Note on This Beer
Nestled deep in the rustic mountains outside of Santa Cruz lies a little Farmhouse brewery that’s making a big splash in California.
Soquel Fermentation Project released their first beers just two years ago, and already they’re turning heads. They beat out craft legends at The Lost Abbey and Alesmith to win medals at the crazy-competitive California Brewer’s Cup!
What gives them a winning edge? Location, location, location! The owner of Soquel lives atop a hill on a 3-acre ranch. They brew out of an actual barn, using a spontaneous-fermentation coolship to capture wild yeast that gives their beers an authentic taste of local terroir.
They even have a cellar set up under the house that was used by the previous owner for fermenting wine, and is now a prime location for cellaring their 100% Oak-Aged Wild Ales.
It’s all they do! Wild Ales are life for the guys at Soquel, and you can taste their dedication to the craft in today’s 2018 Vintage American Wild #3 with Blueberries.
This was Tavour’s first taste from the brewery and after drifting away on its tart & funky, horse-driven carriage full of blueberries, we promise it won’t be our last beer from them!
American Wild #3 was aged in oak for over 14 months, really driving home the oaky tannic character that plays so beautifully with the fruit. If you love blueberries, you should try this beer. If you love Sours, you should try this beer. For the love of all things Brett and funk, you should definitely try this beer.
And hurry, this brewery makes less than 200 barrels of beer a year! So, you’ll be lucky if you snag one of the less than 250-bottles in our stash.
