A Note on This Beer
There are few better hop pairings that can achieve the creamy, pineapple-coconut glory of a piña colada than Mosaic and Sabro Hops.
Craft brewers have long adored Mosaic Hops for their bright notes of tropical citrus and tangy berries. Sabro Hops, meanwhile, capture those sweet, vanilla-like flavors of a coconut all too well.
Czig Meister owner, Matt Czigler, knows this. That’s why he and his award-winning team chose these hops to power today’s piña colada-esque IPA — Abyss Series: Mariana.
Crafted with a Pilsner malt base, this fluffy hazebomb starts off like a juicy sea of smooth citrus. On the first sip, huge flavors of ripe pineapple flow over the taste buds in a soft, almost creamy mouthfeel. A few sips more, and the coconut sweetness appears in full force. On the finish, deep notes of earthy dankness bring everything all together.
There’s a lot of brew-science that goes into crafting a piña colada that’s powered entirely by hops. But, that’s where Matt excels — with his extensive science background from his triple major AND a diploma from the World Brewing Academy, he’s a downright beer brainiac!
