A Note on This Beer
Today’s A Ghost is Born American Wild Ale took years to create!
First, the brewers at The Referend Bier Blendery got a hold of some seriously interesting barrels — they held Port Wine and then Rye Whiskey before being filled with Pale Wheat Ale for 1.5 years.
Then, these innovative brewers combined the result with beer aged on neutral oak, and finally transferred the blend to Cognac barrels for 9 months.
And, it didn’t end there — the barrels were already packed with New York-grown Morello and Montmorency cherries! The second use fruit had already flavored The Referend Bier’s Kriek, but it still brought light cherry flavors and gentle vinous notes to compliment a citrusy tang from the wild yeast.
The final result is tart, crisp, fruity, and endlessly drinkable. A prime example of why Hop Culture called The Referend Bier’s taproom “an altar to Lambic tradition.”
Whether you're looking for an elegant pour to compliment a gourmet meal, or just lounging around in the sunshine, A Ghost is Born will keep a smile on your Wild Ale-loving face.
That is, if you manage to scoop up one of the 60 bottles we smuggled out of the Garden State!
*The Referend Bier Blendery was named one of Hop Culture’s 15 Best Breweries of 2018!
