A Note on This Beer
Let me fanboy over today’s beer for a hot second. The first time I tried it was in Europe a couple years ago — it tattooed itself on my brain like a gang sign that says: More please and loyalty forever! If you're one of the lucky few who've tried this stateside, you'll understand my obsession.
From the famous dark beer maestros over in Denmark, this is Amager’s Double Black Mash Imperial Stout, 2018 edition.
Imagine going through the painstaking process of making a roasty, malt heavy Imperial Stout and then making another one. BUT instead of using water in the mash for the second beer, you mash it with the beer you just made — hence double mash. Hence, fudgy, dense insanity and the 4.23 UT rating that comes with it!
This beer has a reputation that is no joke! You will taste every bold stroke of this 12% ABV. It's full of caramel, dark fruit, smoky sugar and a mouthfeel that will stay for days! As one well-known blogger says, this is just the shit! And I agree. It’s a beer that my cellar will fall in love with and it’s a beer that my friends will demand I open yesterday!
One day, I hope to recreate my first overseas taste of Double Black, but for now, I’m perfectly okay with drinking it from the comfort of my very own home. Anyone wanna come over and join me?
Rated 4.23 on UT!
