Co-founder and head brewer Pete Oates is an actual scientist — he has a Ph.D. from MIT to prove it! Before releasing his first brew to the public back in 2017, Pete spent years as an engineer, working to bring clean water to folks all over the world. He’s worked on projects in Haiti, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and at home in New York state. On the weekends, he spent his time exploring the Northeast’s best breweries. When he finally turned his big brain and vast knowledge to brewing, magic happened — although, Pete would call it science. Science that earned Equilibrium the title of Breakout Brewer from Craft Beer & Brewing Magazine!
