Whiskey Barrel Aged J Marie
River North Brewery
A Note on This Beer
Today’s boozy 10.2% ABV J. Marie Saison from River North was born for the barrel. It’s been aged for 4 months in Whiskey Barrels to combine oaky cinnamon spice character with tart Granny Smith notes -- the result is an apple pie whiskey cocktail that’ll impress the hell out of your friends.
Don’t get caught snoozing when it comes to Whiskey Barrel Aged J. Marie -- the micro-batch we snagged was part of only 72 cases to leave their Colorado taproom, and it won’t last long. Its like that family get-together at grandma’s when you passed out after dinner from food coma, only to wake up to an empty apple pie tin and crumbs all over your fat cousins’ t-shirts.
Aging the subtly funky and tart Saison base in charred oak whiskey barrels brings layers of toasted pie crust complexity, developing vanilla notes and an undeniably lingering boozy heat. From its honeyed golden pour, aromas of cinnamon-sprinkled, whiskey-laced caramel-baked apples enliven the senses. The 10.2% ABV amplifies waves of toffee and sweet malts that charge the palate. A rich oaky finish rounds out the drinking experience -- you’ll keep tasting it on the back of your tongue, begging you for a second helping.
