Sweet Wild of Mine - Batch No. 1504
A Note on This Beer
Craft beer fiends habitually pull off California’s Hwy 101 for a pit stop at Firestone Walker, but in-the-know Sour fans trek a little bit further down to San Luis Obispo. Step inside an unsuspecting barber shop, through rustic wooden doors, and down the basement stairs to discover Barrelhouse’s speakeasy-style taproom; a treasure trove of Oak-Aged Sour wonders.
Members that tasted it back in 2017 have likely already snagged one of today’s Sweet Wild Of Mine French Oak Barrel Aged Sours, so let’s get the rest of you up-to-speed before it’s too late:
- Tavour sour heads absolutely love this beer, rating it a big ol’ 4.11.
- Its being compared to Rodenbach and Duchesse de Bourgogne for the way it exquisitely captures the balance of sweet and tart cherry flavors.
- A touch of vanilla from French Oak swims in a sea of crushed grapes and juicy cranberry flavors, softened by the presence of caramel, before coming to a dry, tangy finish.
We can’t get enough of this oaky grape-cranberry Sour around here. The last batch reeled us in, and this one’s been cellared for over a year drawing out even more complex wine-like character. All you need is a bottle of Sweet Wild Of Mine, and you’ll feel as fresh as walking out of the barbershop with a clean new fade.
