A Note on This Beer
There’s a reason Hale’s Brewery is the Northwest’s longest running independently owned brewery: They don’t stutter on flavor and they consistently do justice to the few classic styles they brew.
Case in point: the Supergoose IPA – Haley’s flagship beer and a Seattle institution.
Supergoose will remind you of Ballast Point’s Sculpin with its ultra smooth, balanced mouthfeel. Hale’s attains this balance by cutting its aggressive hop bill with five different malt varieties. They use extensive dry-hopping to ensure inflated aromas quench hop appetites out the gate but don’t overpower upon tasting. Expect big fruit, sturdy bitter, lush biscuity malts – this is an IPA you want to know on a first name basis.
Supergoose pours a brilliant copper with super fresh citrus aromas courtesy of its Amarillo/Simcoe Hop cocktail. Passionfruit, orange, pineapple, lemon, lime – the entire IPA rainbow appears. Bitter hop resin, sharp citrus zest and light caramel malts converge on the palate delivering the quintessential yes moment every beer drinker craves. The Bravo Hops get the last word on the finish with a long lasting bitter exclamation point that’s as loud as its 97 rating on Ratebeer. Take note: the significant 7% ABV is so wholly integrated that its enveloping heat comes as a real surprise.
Given Seattle’s reputation on the craft beer scene, Supergoose’s distinction as one of the city’s cornerstone IPAS is very high praise indeed. For craft beer drinkers, its cultural significance outdistances the Space Needle – delivering impeccably crafted hop flavor minus the kitschy key chain.
