Socola Imperial Truffle Stout
Barebottle Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
There are a few terms in the craft scene so powerful they send beer nerds into a frantic search-mode. So when they saw a whole handful of these terms in Barebottle’s Socola Imperial Vietnamese Coffee Truffle Stout and discovered it’s only found in California, they flooded our inbox vying for a taste.
Here are the epic terms that ignited this dessert beer search frenzy:
Barebottle: These San Francisco brewers know how to treat our palates. They even highlight all of the rare combinations of expensive and hard to find ingredients right on their labels — that’s how confident they are that their delicious beers can’t be replicated.
Chocolate Truffle: Hearing those words just makes my soul melt thinking about the richness I’m about to devour. Socola uses toasted cacao nibs and Viking cookie malts to capture the true essence of a dark chocolate truffle.
Imperial: Yowza, 13.1% ABV! You can’t taste the booze, but put down a whole bottle on your own and you better believe you’ll feel it.
Vietnamese Coffee: It’s a sweet-tooth’s favorite type of coffee. And in Socola the brewers blend in all of the vanilla, cinnamon, and creamy milk sugar that makes a Vietnamese coffee worthy of drinking for dessert.
Coconut: Fans of chocolatey Stouts either like it or love it. Additions of toasted coconut in Socola add a German chocolate frosting-like note to this decadent Imperial Truffle Stout. It’s the type of dessert that will stir up questions at a party like hey where’d that coconut beer go?!
Barebottle highlights the deliciousness to expect from this 13% ABV Imperial Truffle Stout made with Vietnamese coffee and coconut — so I made sure to snag some for the dessert beer fans at Tavour who can’t make it out to California. Oh is that you? You’re welcome.
