Simcoe Single Hopped IPA
A Note on This Beer
Mikkeller has conquered the craft beer world by being an expert who extracts full flavor from his ingredients one at a time. Whether it’s one of his legendary coffee Stouts or one of his fruit Sours, he has impressed and wowed the community, earning very high ratings nearly every time.
Now he brings his focus to that all important ingredient: the hop. His acclaimed and elusive single hop series of IPAs is a premier exploration of the full potential of 20 different varieties of hops, each at 100 IBU.
Kicking it off is the Simcoe IPA. Simcoe’s unique aromas are an essential part of many hoppy brews, but they rarely get the lead billing the deserve. With 12-14% alpha acids, Simcoe gets you to 100 IBU quickly, giving you dense passionfruit, spruce, and herbal earthiness along the way. A fresh and pale malt bill stands aside to make way for this popular aromatic and bitter hop.
Simcoe IPA glows a distinct orange coppery hue. Aromas of spring onions, slight caramel, and deep tanginess of passion fruit are propelled from the glass. Sip and meet Simcoe hops in their purest form - spruce, rosemary, and woody pine. It finishes by leaving a wave of satisfying resin.
Mikkeller’s single hop IPAs are an educative experience; each hop behaves a little differently at 100 IBU. We have working toward bringing these great hoppy brews to you for some time. Simcoe IPA is the first!
