A Note on This Beer
Tasting like Scotland’s prized whiskies, Brasserie de Silly’s 8% ABV Scotch Silly Ale has an extraordinary story: it was a soldier’s request that’s become a global tradition and is now considered one of the best Scotch Ales in the world.
Fully loaded with candied fruit sensations and bolstered with chocolate notes, this sweet, luxurious Ale is Belgian-made with a brave Scottish heart. During WWI, Scottish soldiers stationed near Belgium’s Brasserie de Silly brewery requested an Ale that reminded them of home. The robust, yet cocoa silky Scotch Silly was born and has remained relatively unchanged since 1919.
Cognac-soaked pineapple aromas arise from the tulip glass with hints of confectioner’s sugar. Then the dessert buffet rolls on your tongue with a rich mouthfeel -- caramel bon bons, cocoa dusted hazelnuts, cherry cordials, candied rosemary, and subtle tones of Islay whisky.
Brewing on the edge of Silly, a small farming village in Wallonia, Brasserie de Silly is decorated with a multitude of awards including best in the region. Taste the delicious perfection they’ve mastered over the course of a century with every sip of Scotch Silly -- an enticing brew for holiday celebrations, cellaring, or as a gift for any Belgian/Scotch Ale fan.
