Gigantic Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Every time Portland’s Gigantic Brewing releases an installment of their critically acclaimed, award winning Endless Series, fans go a little insane.
When you know you only have one shot at tasting creative genius at this level, insanity is called for – each beer in this series is wildly innovative and only brewed once.
Saboteur is Gigantic Brewing’s latest masterpiece. It’s an edgy siren song that will steal the hearts of dark beer fans with its trailblazing riff on a Baltic Porter.
Plunging deep into chocolate malts, Saboteur shocks the palate with a complete lack of malty sweetness, differentiating itself from foreign Baltic Porters.
Digging in, Saboteur’s initial impression is of charred rye bread dunked in hot chocolate. Sipping brings out the rich earthy flavors of a long-cellared ale. The flavors deepen as the faint wisp of raspberries come to light. Just as you think it’s about to get sweet, it changes track on you, hopping to a bitter and dry yet creamy and milky finish.
Saboteur is an emotional experience. By the end of the bottle you’ll be wistful, wondering why beers this delicious doesn’t go into mass syndication. But in craft beer, that’s what you sign up for - a limited taste of inspiration like Saboteur.
