Roadtrip - Don’t Know What I’m Gonna Do
A Note on This Beer
Today’s Bourbon Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout from Florida’s Cycle Brewing features coffee, cocoa, cinnamon, and an astounding 4.40 Untappd rating! People are gushing about it:
- “Dark, rich, chocolate, boozy, everything you want in a beer!” @Simon on UT
- “Delicious and aromatic and creamy.” @bubseymour on BA
- “Don’t know how you could rate this anything less than a 5 if your taste buds are functioning properly.” @Bryan D. on UT
The beer in question — part of Cycle’s highly-rated ‘Roadtrip’ series — is called Don’t Know What I’m Gonna Do. Weird name! Although Stout fans down in the Sunshine State know EXACTLY what they’re gonna do, which is drink more of this beer.
If you’re a fan of massive Imperial Stouts and you’re not familiar with Cycle, you’re going to want to get acquainted with these guys, and fast. They focus almost exclusively on Barrel-Aged Dark Beers, and their massive 4.23 UT brewery-rating is higher than the Stout masters at Founders, Westbrook, and 3 Floyds!
But their brews almost never leave Florida so there’s a good chance even your craftiest buddy hasn’t had a taste. Invite them over for a sip from today’s bottle and you’ll be the one to introduce them to these Dark Beer masters. Plus if you grab an extra bottle, they’ll probably trade you the most prized brews from their cellar for it!
Though once you taste this boozy, cinnamon-mocha brew, you probably won’t want to trade it for anything!
To make this delectable treat, the brewers at Cycle start by aging green coffee beans in Bourbon barrels to pick up robust notes of whiskey, vanilla, and oak. Then, they roast the beans and add the Bourbon-flavored coffee straight to the beer, along with a heap of toasted cocoa nibs and cinnamon. Finally, they mature the finished brew for a full year in top-shelf Bourbon barrels from multiple distilleries, including Woodford and Heaven Hill.
Put it all together and it sips like a rich, fudgy, cinnamon-dusted mocha — but way better because it comes with a boozy 11% ABV!
If you’re already drooling, then pick up a couple of bottles of Don’t Know What I’m Gonna Do and indulge your sweet tooth with today’s rare treat.
