A Note on This Beer
I don’t say this often, but congratulations!
By reading this, you’re among the few craft drinkers in the country who can get a highly limited pico brewery beer! What’s a pico brewery, you ask? Why, it’s the smallest kind of professional craft operation out there!
Pico breweries only use one to three barrels at a time and make less than a batch of beer per day. And with only a few barrels in their brewery and no taproom, it’s exactly what Soquel Fermentation Project is.
Normally, to get one of Soquel’s highly-limited brews, you have to be in their exclusive bottle club or scour the few Cali shops that carry ‘em.
Or, hope your most prized beers will be sufficient trade bait.
‘Cause not only are all of their beers extremely-limited batches, but Soquel packs surprising power behind their small doors — they beat out powerhouses like The Lost Abbey and Alesmith at the 2019 California Brewer’s Cup!
One sip of today’s Red #3 Sour Cherry, and you’ll taste why Soquel also has a higher UT brewery rating than respected giants like Jester King and Allagash. They expertly crafted this Wild Ale with tart sour cherries and aged it for a year in oak foeders!
Even at 7% ABV, #3 Sour Cherry is still extremely sippable. I’d happily kick back with this deep crimson, jammy pour all day!
But why am I wasting your time telling you what I’d do? I’ve already had a taste, and now it’s your turn. Snag a can (or several, while you’re still able) of #3 Sour Cherry, and see why this one little pico brewery can run with the giants!
