A Note on This Beer
Okay, listen, I have the craziest story to tell you:
Last weekend, I was kickin’ it with a few of my craft-lovin’ buds, just talking and drinking, when one of them asks the group, “If you could pick one style to drink for the rest of your life, which would it be and why?”
Boy, let me tell you, the debate was heated:
“Definitely an IPA. They’re packed with so much hop flavor, I would never get bored!”
“What?! You’re crazy! Definitely a Lager, no question. They’re light and easy to drink and I could probably have one every day and never get sick of ‘em.”
“Dude, that’s stupid.”
“No dude. You’re stupid.”
At this point, the conversation devolved into playground insults and I decided to intervene. So I whipped out a few cans of today’s potent and endlessly crushable Really Tied the Room Together Pale Ale from the Oregon Beer Award-winners at Ex Novo.
Stuffed with a whopping 5lbs of Galaxy, Mosaic, and Simcoe Hops in every barrel and clocking in at a sessionable 5.8% ABV, I was certain that this juicy brew could unite my hophead and Lager-lovin’ pals into harmonious, beer-soaked bliss.
As soon as my buddies’ got a taste of the waves of drippy peach and ripe mango brimming from today’s beer, it was like the fight never happened! Instead, they clinked glasses and gulped down the citrusy, resinous nectar until my entire stash was gone!
Which, on second thought, is probably why they broke out into a chorus of folksy drinking songs and proceeded to shout to each other, “I love you like a brother, man!”
Anyway, that’s why I made sure to head down to Portland to pick up the only stash of this 4.07 UT-rated brew that will ever leave the West Coast.
So the next time your buddies argue over their “Desert Island Beer” — or which Cohen Brothers movie is actually the best — hand them a can of today’s harmoniously hoppy crusher and settle the debate once and for all.
