Grimm Artisanal Ales
A Note on This Beer
Shhh, I just hacked into Philip’s Tavour account.
This is Dylan from Tavour and Grimm Artisanal Ales are my favorite brewers on the planet. Ironically I’m able to get ahold of a Grimm Sour Ale today here in Seattle even though I lived in Brooklyn, NY, where they’re based. I kid-you-not, every single bottle release this gypsy husband-wife passion-project team dropped in NYC had a 2-bottle limit and sold-out within the first hour.
I’m tearing up a little just smelling Passion Dome Dry-Hopped Sour Ale. Oh the farm-funk passionfruit joy! Perfectly balanced tropical and stone-fruits curtsey to oak and pirouette across my tongue (honestly guys I don’t even know what pirouette means but Philip uses terms like this all the time, and right now it just feels right). The hops enhance the fruit-juiciness in the passionfruit -- wait! The passionfruit is enhancing the fruit-juiciness squeezed from the hops -- wait! It’s gone full circle Passion Dome and I can’t tell where one ingredient starts and the next one ends.
Here are the facts: The Village Voice calls Grimm the most exciting brewery to watch in NYC. BeerAdvocate gives Grimm a 4.17 brewery rating. And Passion Dome is rated 4.07 on Untappd!
I honestly don’t even need to the check ratings -- Grimm makes Sour Ales unlike any other brewery in the world and when they release something I can get my hands on, you damn well know I get my hands all over it.
