Ortolan Bunting - Bourbon Barrel Aged
Adroit Theory Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Deep within the ancient heart of the Virginia, an artisan brewer is is cultivating the most ardent following of fans who seek a life changing experience with every new beer.
With a process that elevates craft brewing to the level of Renaissance painting, Adroit Theory painstakingly creates one-of-a-kind experiences with every single beer. Their brushes are the barrels of the finest spirits, like Bourbon or Cognac. Each beer is a canvas that evokes a distinctly emotional experience. And to keep these wondrous brewed works of art special, they only use each barrel once.
Adroit’s Ortolan Bunting Strong Ale is one of their grandest and most epic creations. A 9.1% ABV midnight-tinted delight, Ortolan has been aged in a triptych of oak barrels.
Ghost 154 is a robustly cocoa, boozy coffee roast. Aged in Armagnac Brandy barrels, the subtle aromatic Cognac nose leads into a mouthfeel of Italian espresso and molasses.
Ghost 231 brings Ortolan into Kentucky Bourbon oak, infusing stone fruit sweetness and woody spice. These top shelf additions slowly fade into a bittersweet chocolate finish.
Ghost 232 is the coup de grace. By aging in Mezcal barrels, a signature wood-smoked flavor defines this articulation. A Tequila brightness backbones alongside cocoa nibs with the campfire warmth.
No more than 600 bottles of each of Adroit’s Ortolan was produced, and no more will ever be made again. Soon after we tasted this glorious elixir, Mark Osborne, their head brewmaster, and his team, bottled each one we’re bringing to you today.
Take the opportunity to grab all three variations and sample side by side - it’s the only way to truly appreciate the artistic experience. Great beers like this only happen once in a lifetime.
