One Way or Another (2016)
A Note on This Beer
The Sour specialists and 3-time GABF medalists at Cascade held a friendly competition with the flavor innovators at The Bruery Terreux, who BrewBound says “brings the tart and refreshing barrel-aged funk.”
Each of them brewed with the same recipe and used their own barrels.
There was no formal judging. Rather, the two Barrel-Aged Sour behemoths had one shared goal: impress the hell out of each other.
Needless to say, there was no clear winner. Except for the fans who got to taste this masterful collaboration in One Way Or Another (2016 vintage).
But even those fans would consider themselves runners-up to the lucky few of you who get to partake in today’s 4.20 UT-rated, 3-year-cellared edition! We commandeered these bottles straight from Cascade’s personal stash in Portland, Oregon.
This Barrel-Aged Fruit Sour has a 7.9% ABV and tastes just like the juicy Oregon marionberries and California Meyer lemons that were added to the blend. It comes with a funky rustic farmhouse twist alongside a duo of oaky vanillins and jammy tannins gained from spending over 18-months in red wine barrels.
Great beer like this is not just created through friendly competition between breweries; it’s also elevated by fans like you who continue to push craft beer innovators to strive for more.
