A Note on This Beer
Plunge yourself into a top rated 14.6% ABV abyss of chocolate drizzled fruits with one of the top rated Stouts in the world - the Mephistopheles’ Imperial Stout from Avery Brewing.
Rated a perfect 100 on RateBeer and 100 from the Beer Advocate Bros, some people may claim there’s supernatural powers at work in this brew. However, we attribute its entrancing swirls of cocoa and fruit to Avery’s consistently flawless selection of ingredients.
They very carefully build this beast with fiercely dark malts. Darkly roasted barley and black malt layer on the attention-grabbing coffee richness found at the bottom of a cup of Turkish coffee. Breaking off from the wall of roasts, the flavors take on nuance with plums and raisins coming from Special B malt. Coveted Westmalle Belgian yeast from reinforces these fruit flavors, doubling the plums and adding a sprinkling of caramelized plantains on the top. A dose of turbinado sugar gives it a dry sharp fizz that cuts through a burning field full of cocoa pods.
The devil’s in the details and in Mephistopheles Avery shows they’re meticulous about every single one. Does this mean they’re in league with a darker power? Try this cellarable, collective, dark master of malts yourself and see what you think.
