Allagash Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
A leader in Belgian Ales with 16 GABF awards to their name, Allagash teams up with their friends at Speckled Ax Coffee to create Map 40 Belgian-Style Coffee Stout. Released last year as a brewery-only exclusive, this is the first time this wood-fired coffee beer is leaving Portland, ME.
It earns a 4.25 score on BeerAdvocate, leaving users like @Victory_Sabre1973 stunned: “The taste is - and my direct quote is, ‘Oh my goodness.’ One of the best coffee beers I’ve ever had. Top notch for sure.” They achieve show-stopping coffee character from Speckled Ax’s wood-roasted beans, imparting hints of toasted smoke onto the Stout’s rich chocolatey body.
A sturdy base of chocolate malts and roasted barley supports vibrant cold brewed Map 40 Mokha Java coffee. The blend’s bold Papua New Guinean beans and zippy Ethiopian varieties complement the Belgian yeast’s fruity esters. A creamy mouthfeel with notes of caramel, robust coffee, and baker’s cocoa notes make Map’s 7.5% ABV drift into a dry finish.
With Allagash’s 23 years of brewing expertise and Speckled Ax’s top shelf coffee, it’s no wonder Map 40 is being dubbed “highly addictive” by Untappd users. Share it with a Dark Beer loving friend and watch them perk up faster than after that first cuppa joe in the morning.
