Odd Breed Wild Ales
A Note on This Beer
Today’s beer is the wildest thing we’ve seen come out of Florida in a while. And that’s saying a lot, because...well...it’s Florida.
It’s the land where people have alligators as pets, suffer through insane humidity, and cool off with deliciously funky brews from the Wild Ale wizards at Odd Breed!
As the first exclusively Wild Ale brewery in the state, these fellas are taking the Florida craft scene by storm with their bold, flavorful creations. Only two years old, Odd Breed was named one of the Top Three Small Breweries in the Country by Craft Beer and Brewing Magazine!
Their skillful fermentation, laborious attention to detail, and complex flavor profiles come through with every sip of today’s Mahogany Tiger Wild Ale.
This is your chance to try one of the newest breweries making waves in the Wild Ale scene — you’ll be the first to bring Odd Breed to the bottleshare, staying ahead of the curve like the craft aficionado you are!
To make this fruity sipper, the brewers mix a medley of Pilsner malt, raw wheat, malted rye, and aged hops to make their unique base Farmhouse Ale. Next, they put the base in hand-selected French Oak Puncheons and age the blend for over a year.
Finally, they condition the Ale with tangy red currants, resulting in a Wild Ale with enough fruity funk to start a jazz band!
Notes of ripe strawberries, cranberries, and grapes dance across the palate for a crisp, vinous first sip. Red currant tartness makes itself known in the middle, washing over the tastebuds with a bit of funk. The oak character from the barrel aging appears on the finish, adding nuance to the berry flavors and making the 6% ABV go down with an earthy smoothness.
With beers like Mahogany Tiger in their arsenal, we don’t expect Odd Breed will fly under the radar for much longer. So get your hands on some bottles now, and by the time your buddies are raving about their funky creations you can say been there, tasted that.
And you didn't even have to trade in your dog for an alligator!
