Westbound & Down Brewery
A Note on This Beer
Yo! Our newest brewery buddies are Tavour members. That means the entire team at Colorado’s Westbound & Down are total beer geeks, too. How great is that?!
Show up at their bustling, brick-lined taproom on release days and immerse yourself in craft nerdery. But don’t show up late. Even on a balmy 80-degree day, Westbound fans were so excited for today’s Louie Barrel-Aged Barleywine, they drank up the entire batch of the 11.5% ABV boozebomb in one day!
Minus the tiny stash we snagged ahead of time — we knew there were only 320 bottles in existence and that they wouldn’t last long.
Westbound’s fans are well-versed in craft beer beer, so you can grab a bar stool next to anyone in the joint and find yourself deep in conversation about barley, grain bills, and all kinds of technical stuff only super nerds care about — to us, that’s so cool!
Many of them are Tavour members too. And you what’s even cooler than cool?
The first beer that the brewery ever snagged from us was a beer geek’s holy grail: Anchorage’s A Deal With The Devil! Basically one of the most sought-after Barleywines in the country, and one we were super proud to share with our members.
After we learned what hardcore beer geeks the brewers at Westbound are, and that Barleywine is one of the many styles that really beer floats-their-boat, it only made sense to nab the most badass, best-best selling Barleywine from their arsenal to share with you!
This boozy dessert is absolutely bangin’ with rich melted toffee and salted caramel decadence. It’s a blend of English Barleywines aged in Port-finished Rye Whiskey Barrels — for 9 freaking months! And it tastes like if an oaky bourbon was blended into a hot vanilla-fudge sundae.
Beer geeks recognize beer geeks, meaning we know when a brewery freaks-out about craft as much as we do, then we want a taste of whatever they’re drinking. And trust us, you want today’s taste of Westbound & Down!
*Serve between 55-60 degrees, and taste the deep flavors of Louie that unravel as it warms.
