Live From Jacobi
Gun Hill Brewing Company
A Note on This Beer
Deeply juicy, with a fresh-squeezed grapefruit bittersweet bite, Gun Hill Brewing’s Live from Jacobi IPA elevates the fruity NE style with a snap of extra fresh West Coast-style bitterness.
Brewed in the Bronx by a trend-setting brewery that made the front cover of BeerAdvocate magazine, Live From Jacobi shows how Gun Hill is contributing to the innovation of the most popular sub-style of IPA -- the NE Style.
Undeniably fresh and juicy with lingering notes of mandarins, Jacobi reawakens tastebuds that have long gone dormant with a bitter leaf dank tobacco slap. Peppery geraniums soak your tongue with hoppy myrcene. Exhale and it’s as though you’ve been chewing on fresh grapefruit peel -- the air is spiked with zesty citrus oil. Don’t be alarmed if you see some sediment, Gun Hill has left this brew unfiltered for maximum flavorful impact.
Does this elevated bitter brew at the forefront of craft signal the coming of the end for the hazy IPA? It’s too soon to say, but if all the IPAs of the future taste as good as Jacobi, I’m all for a changing of the guard.
