Le Roar Grrrz Berry
A Note on This Beer
Nestled alongside Cantillon and 3 Fonteinen, Bullfrog Brewery’s Le Roar is ranked in the Top 10 Gueuze Sour Ales on BeerAdvocate with a godly score of 4.49!
It matches the sour apple, oak softened notes of the Belgian masters, yet also delivers a lemon charged bite that sets it apart from the old world experts. That’s doesn’t mean it’s overly sour, no. The fresh Granny Smith tartness has extremely concentrated flavor like a tincture. The smallest sip is all you need to understand why this beer is considered pure gold by collectors.
Aromatics of pickled lemons spring up from the glass. Tangy just-ripe peaches and woody oak go so deep it starts to taste like walnuts. Next, a bone-dry acidity sweeps through, quenching the tongue with ultra crisp green grapes. Echos of tart cherries leave a hint of sweetness as it tails off.
Aged initially for 3 years and then in the bottle for nearly 2 more, Le Roar’s funky tart notes are growing in volume. Open your mouth and taste what all the buzz is about.
